Net_Dérive
is an installation piece extending beyond the confines of a gallery, to include
the urban environment. The workis inspired by the Situationist Dérive
and experiments with this strategy in the context of location based media. It
sets up social interactions, supported by mobile phones and internet technologies
within a loose network of participants exploring an urban environment. From
the paths taken and the experiences acquired, a collective narrative emerges
which is fed back through audiovisual means to each participant and thus shapes
their evolving collective experience.
